Nagy Brothers Racing - Chris and Kyle

Racing has been in the Nagy family since the early 1950's.  It began with Clyde Nagy driving Grand National Stock cars on dirt tracks in Ohio.  His son, Jack Nagy took over driving duties from his dad for 2 years, before enlisting for the Korean War.  Ten years later, Jack put his only son, Dan, in a Quarter Midget, at the age of 6.  Moving forward another 35 years, Clyde's great-grandson, Jack's grandson, Dan's son, Chris, finally turned 8 and put the hammer down in his first Jr. Dragster.  Four years after Chris started; Kyle started his career racing at the age of 8 in his Jr. Dragster.  Wow!  How time flies!  Four generations of Nagy Family Racing.

Chris raced on his own for four years until younger brother Kyle turned 8, and was able to get his NHRA Jr. Dragster competition license.  2006 marked the beginning of the brothers racing together, forming the Nagy Brothers Racing Team.

Chris Nagy began racing Jr. Dragsters at the age of 8.  He has earned the respect as a competitive driver at the age of 14.  He has been a two-time champion with 15 wins to his credit, and multiple top 4 finishes.  Chris has plans to drive a full-size drag car when he turns 16.  When time permits, he enjoys off-roading on his quad, and competing in karate tournaments.  Chris will be starting high school in September.  His goals are to be a scholar athlete, competing in football, basketball, baseball, and track, while keeping a 4.0 grade point average.  His future plans are to attend a community college, and then on to a university.  His dreams are to be a teacher and a coach.

Kyle Nagy began racing Jr. Dragsters at the age of 8.  He has 5 wins and 10 top 4 finishes.  His favorite race is against his older brother, Chris.  Kyle had back-to-back #1 Qualifier positions at the SCEDA Jr. All Stars, with the 32 best Jr. Racers in Southern California.  Kyle also works hard in school in the 5th grade.  He enjoys art, karate, video games and riding his quad.  When asked what his future looks like, Kyle responded, “I would like to be the Crew Chief on the Speed Wong Racing #20 Super Late Model.”  Move over, Dad!

Even though it is the Nagy Brothers Racing, it is a family operation. The boys' dad, Dan, is the team owner, team manager, crew chief, mechanic, tuner, truck driver, team cook, and referee (when the boys have to race each other).  Mom, Mary, carries the title of "team support, financial advisor, social coordinator, and Kyle's on-track lead crew member".

The Nagy Brothers are serious and committed to their sport of Jr. Drag Racing. Above all, education comes first, having to maintain above average grades in order to stay in their race cars.  While at the track, they are known for their sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and comradery.   People are amazed at how the young boys conduct themselves endorsing sponsors' products, engaging in casual and easy conversations.  They have had several newspaper articles and TV appearances.  They are two fun and easy-going kids until they put their helmets on.  Then it's 100% focus and the will and the desire to win.

We are proud to have the support and friendship of a few people who have helped our racing program.

Jr. Drag racing started in 1992, as the little brother to the NHRA 330 mph top fuel dragsters.  Boys and girls ages 8 to 17 can compete.  There are 4 age groups that compete on the 1/8 mile drag strip.  8-9 races at 12.90 seconds, and 10-12, 13-14, and 15-17 age groups race at 7.50 seconds.  A new 330 Outlaw heads up class for drivers ages 14 and over, can run.  Jr. Drag racing is a great family environment that promotes camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
